Hailing a cab is always an adventure!
An off-road adventure
Passing a tractor-trailer (or vice versa) is always an adventure
Danger, Will Robinson!
Oh, my!
How cool is this?
The road itself can be an adventure
A classic road trip
Finding a parking space is often an adventure
Motor homes are highly recommended for long road trips. They promote family togetherness and provide a more stress-free environment... Sometimes.
Volcanic eruptions can severely hinder a road trip.
Classic Convertible = Roadtrip
Since cell phone reception is not always available in remote areas, a CB radio or satellite phone can be invaluable.
Winter road travel in rural areas should be avoided at all cost.  So should wild taxi cab rides, hitchhiking, high speed pursuits, unexpected detours and carjackings. While these negative experiences exemplify the ultimate road trip movie thrill, in reality, they always lead to trouble and can be very dangerous and terrifying.
Well planned, leisurely drives can be just as enjoyable and eventful as spontaneous road trips.  Either way, the quest for great roadside attractions and great roadside food always provides a fun experience.
There seems to be no limit to the number of "fake" attractions and tourist traps, or to the number of "genuine article" attractions. However, many of the real deal attractions are tackier than fake ones.
The natural beauty of the countryside often ensures the best road trip experience.

The wonder and anticipation of finding attractions, food, and
accommodations in unfamiliar surroundings provides a thrill.
A great road trip is not complete without at least one stop at a roadside attraction, even if it's tacky.  All too often, however, the good attractions are cheap or free, while the bad ones are expensive.
Nothing beats a road trip in a classic car...

Nothing beats fast food on a road trip
Ads appear everywhere, especially in unexpected places.  Favorite locations include billboards, buildings, water towers, barns, bus stops, and vehicles.  A unique ad usually guarantees a unique attraction... whether it's good or bad.
Roadside attractions have existed ever since the wheel was invented.  They are found on interstates, highways, and back roads.  If the attraction doesn't catch your attention, then frequent ads for it wil
Often, the ads appear at regular intervals, like the old Burma Shave ads, and many first appear hundreds of miles away from the attraction.  Are advertised items or services worth exploring? Are they the "real deal" or just a rip off?
