Hailing a cab is always the ultimate adventure!
Passing a tractor-trailer (or vice versa) is always an adventure
The road itself can be an adventure
Finding a parking space is often an adventure
Motor homes are highly recommended for long road trips. They promote family togetherness and provide a more stress-free environment... Sometimes.
Volcanic eruptions can severely hinder a road trip.
Classic Convertible = Roadtrip
Winter road travel in rural areas should be avoided at all cost. So should wild taxi cab rides, hitchhiking, high speed pursuits, unexpected detours and carjackings. While these negative experiences exemplify the ultimate road trip movie thrill, in reality, they always lead to trouble and can be very dangerous and terrifying.
Well planned, leisurely drives can be just as enjoyable and eventful as spontaneous road trips. Either way, the quest for great roadside attractions and great roadside food always provides a fun experience.
There seems to be no limit to the number of "fake" attractions and tourist traps, or to the number of "genuine article" attractions. However, many of the real deal attractions are tackier than fake ones.
The natural beauty of the countryside often ensures the best road trip experience.

In unfamiliar surroundings, the wonder and anticipation of finding food, attractions, and accommodations can provide a thrill. However, cell phone reception is not always available in remote areas, so a cell phone, CB radio, or satellite phone is invaluable.
A great road trip is not complete without at least one stop at a roadside attraction, even if it's tacky. All too often, however, the good attractions are cheap or free, while the bad ones are expensive.
Nothing beats a road trip in a classic car...

Roadside attractions have existed ever since the wheel was invented. If they don't catch your attention, then frequent ads for them will. Often, the ads appear at regular intervals, like old Burma Shave ads, and many appear hundreds of miles away. Travelers beware... Is the attraction worth exploring? Is it the "real deal" or just a rip off?
Favorite locations for ads include billboards, buildings, water towers, barns, and bus stops. A unique ad usually guarantees a unique attraction... whether it's good or bad.
